We don't have family close by. So if we want a couple of hours, we pay someone. That's been the arrangement since our oldest was born, and it's usually twice a month.
Catherine typically owns the walkthrough — leading the sitter around the house, covering the kids, the bedtime routine, the buttons they'll try to push, their comfort objects, the latest challenges, screen time rules, where the fire extinguisher is located. It takes an enormous amount of energy and you still forget something. Which is how you end up answering your phone in panic mode at dinner, only to find out they just need the wifi password.
We needed a better way, and there was nothing out there to buy, so we built it.
Our careers span tech and education, so we built something that leads with trust and safety while making the handoff itself a lot easier.
